Samsung Smart View still doesn't work with avast firewall enabled.

After reading through this forum, there are still people that have problems with Avast firewall blocking Samsung Smart View even when the program has full access on all ports, on all addresses, which still (a year later) has not been fixed, which is very disturbing for me, as I have the Avast Internet Security subscription, which I won't be renewing if this problem hasn't been fixed, by the time of my renewal date, and from reading the posts from other people that have the same problem, they have dumped Avast in favor of Norton, which seems to be the only software that doesn't block smart View.

There is no way I'm going to NOT! have a firewall, even though my router has one it's not as complex as 3rd party ones, and I wouldn't even trust the Windows one either.

So, if anyone has a fix or has fixed the problem with the Smart View being blocked by Avast firewall, then I'm all ears,, oh and don't bother telling me about creating a custom rules, etc etc, as that don't work either, no matter what's done, the firewall will still block Smart View unless the firewall it literally disabled.

Is your firewall profile in private or puplic mode?

There is no way I'm going to NOT! have a firewall, even though my router has one it's not as complex as 3rd party ones, and I wouldn't even trust the Windows one either.

It didn't matter either way, Private or Public, Avast firewall blocks Samsung Smart View, period.

All viruses out there that are designed to attack windows, is so designed because of the windows firewall is inbuilt and is able to be reverse engineered, and within seconds a new virus is created to attack windows, but using a 3rd party firewall be it software or hardware (hardware preferred), which provides a better layer or protection.

Check this out, the windows firewall is the same on everybody's computer,  if they install windows 10, then everyone that installs windows 10 has the exact same firewall, I can look at a computer and and see that it's running windows and obviously has the same firewall as the PC next door, but,,, there's no way of knowing that a PC is running a 3rd party firewall, unless you examine it further, and thus PC1 may have a different firewall than PC2, making a bit more harder for attackers, whereas if all PC's just relied on the windows firewall then an attacker could attack every PC that runs windows firewall at the same time, and that's why I prefer a 3rd party firewall.

Even though I'm not a huge 500 employee company, I'm currently looking into a hardware firewall from Cisco.

If I set the default rule to Allow, then it works, but for some reason Smart View does not trigger the firewall when set to Ask,,, and this is what's in the logs under (blocked):-

The 198 IP is the smart TV to which Smart View is trying to communicate with.

So, the choices here are:-

1..........Don't use Smart View until the dev's have fixed Avast
2..........Disable the firewall and risk being attacked/infected
3..........Completely uninstall Avast and use another antivirus and install Zonealarm for the firewall.

That worked, thanks,,,,,, and yet there's nothing anywhere on the net to say to enable 'Internet connection sharing' mode when using the firewall in private mode, (which at home should be set to private network), and using Samsung Smart View.

I don't know why the Avast firewall 'Internet connection sharing' mode is not enabled by default when selecting the private profile, unless it's one of those conditions that have to be set when using only Smart View.

Internet connection sharing mode isn't enabled by default but needs to be enabled when using devices such as Chromecast, Smart View/TV and Network Printers connected wirelessly.
