Well the thing is I did not even have my browser opened. Only some background googlechrome processes. I was playing a videogame when I heard the warning sound. Spooky.

Just started having this issue too. I haven't downloaded anything from an unverified source recently, I checked the link on VirusTotal, along with doing system scans with both avast and Malwarebytes and nothing showed up. I'd mark this down as a false positive. Chrome will also occasionally check for updates even when closed, I believe.

Hello this is betgaav67.
Thanks for your replies. I scanned my system with avast, Malwarebytes+adwcleaner right after I got the issue and found nothing. I do share your point of view that this is a false positive but a bitter aftertaste remains so I'd like to get some confirmation from a mod if possible.

Ok, but any explanation for that?

False positive that's been addressed.
