While performing a full scan, Avast asks permission to access my address book. Why is this required and what is the risk of allowing this? I'm quite cautious about any software assessing such information.

I hope someone can clarify and put my concern to rest.

I've tried to replicate but the software hasn't asked me for this again. Maybe only during its first run (I did try uninstall and re-install)?

Maybe this is related to MacOS 10.14's new safety feature (I was running the beta of that version). Also during the install it asked me to accept security settings. On a laptop with 10.13 there was no issue.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We'll focus on it while testing AV with new macOSX. If there are any other issues related to Avast AV on Mojave this forum is the right place to share them to get it fixed ;)
