Licenses not required?
« on: August 07, 2018, 01:35:17 AM »
Hi,

Have moved home and changed computers, now find I have licenses unused. This is costing me a fortune! Have just cancelled the auto-renew, otherwise these unused licences are paid for, then go into limbo. I have logged all my computers and find the pc-names do not all correspond to the Avast info on my licences, so further confusion.

My laptop I hardly use now - it's antivirus +vpn was just automatically renewed, this is ridiculous.

Can I cancel existing subscriptions please? - some of which I have no idea what computers they related to, because the info Avast has does not match my computer profiles. I need to cancel this stuff. I can always open new subscriptions later on.

How do I cancel please, & if I cancel, do I get reimbursed for the antivirus services I am no longer subscribed to?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Have now sent a request to Avast through their web page identifying a license number no longer required, but I also have the 'unused licenses' under my account, I just want to get rid of them - they are doing nothing. Is it not simpler for Avast just to locate my account and cancel these unused licenses please?

My current computer set-up still uses active Avast - but these other licenses are left-overs from the past, they should never have auto-renewed themselves but I guess that is a default.

Thanks.

Thanks,

Already sent message through this linked page & received a support ticket 06973192 from support.avast team. Am still awaiting response 12 hours on.

Also notice Avast, by way of Digital River, have charged me the same amount twice, each charge has a different ID but the anti-virus and vpn on the unused laptop both have the same license number.

The Digital River invoice does not tell me what the payment is for, Avast sell dozens of products. It would really help customers if these invoices were more informative, a simple code number relating to the product would be enough to identify what has been purchased.

Am now day 2 trying to chase down all these auto-renewed licenses, at least I have been able to cancel auto-renewal, some of the licenses might refer to pc's which no longer exist, the Avast 'pc-names' in my account don't all equate to the pc-names I currently have.

Thank you, you are very kind! ;)

Managed to trace the transaction - it refers to 'Internet Security' + 'Secureline VPN' for a laptop no longer used. They have auto-renewed both under one licence code, but made two separate ID codes for the Digital River transaction charge.

I do not require these Avast items - they only went through because of the auto-renew default.

Thanks again & will update!

If you hear nothing by Mon, let me know. I have some other ways of getting this looked at.

Thanks again,

Avast seem remarkably slow on this one - I'd really rather not raise a dispute over the unwanted default license on PayPal, which is how they debited me. Fingers crossed they respond. Will update.

Just received the following email:

"As per your request, please accept this email as confirmation of your refund being approved for processing. We have now notified our online shop of the refund and they will arrange this transaction and notify you in due course.

"Please note that the refund process can take up to a maximum of 7 business days."

Avast have also sent a satisfaction survey but as the email doesn't specify if one or both items - debited separately, yet under one license number - have been refunded I need to wait and see.

So far so good - thanks to all for help and advice! :)

Thanks, not such good news presently, Avast have only refunded half the licence - it was a single licence comprising two Avast products. I'll give them another 24 hours however, because I raised another ticket identifying the exact licence which refers to the inactive laptop, ticket number 06980121.

This is what alerted me, two identical debits came in but under one license number, so they've refunded half the license number!

Will update.

Good news :) It looks as if both elements of the unwanted license number (all my license numbers seem to be the same???) have been refunded.

Many thanks to all for help - when the refunds have been processed I will complete the Avast satisfaction survey questionnaire they sent me several days ago.
