Disabling Avast allows me to connect to a dedicated server running on my PC.    But with Avast enabled I can not connect even though I set both the client and server files to full 5 bars and added all Wurm related folders to the exclusion list.  Any ideas?

Avast free or paid ??? Which version. ??? Are you sure this isn't a Firewall related issue ???

Sorry to reply to an old thread but I am having the same problem. I have been running the server for weeks but today for some reason it is being blocked.
I can disable the Avast firewall (purchased version) and have no problems so I have isolated it to the Avast Firewall.

I have tried to allow all combinations of Wurm executables and opened ALL ports but still nothing.

When I check the network connections in Avast it looks like Java is the one running Wurm, but when I allow that and open all ports it still doesn't work.
When I disable the firewall and am able to play I can't access the network connections so don't know what makes it work.

This is a deal breaker for me, not only that I can't play but that my original settings were changed after an update, and I don't want to have to troubleshoot this every time I get an update.

If there is an answer out there to fix this please let me know. If not I guess I'm going shopping.
