Mouse pointer disappears with Avast

I am using Avast Premium, paid for version. Laptop is running windows 10 which I am new to. When using the Avast user interface the mouse pointer does not show but if moved off to one side appears again. This does not happen with anything else. Apologies if this is ridiculously simply but it has me beaten as to why and how to correct it.
