"Connect Avast Secureline" vs. "Connect Avast Secureline VPN"

My mac mini has been addicting odd lately - it slows to a crawl when I'm on the internet. I have learned to go to the avast icon in the upper right hand area of my monitor. When clicked, there may be (2) "Connect Avast Secureline" yet there is always (1) "Connect Avast Secureline VPN". i took screen shots, but down know how to include here. When I go to the avast software page on my mac mini the data doesn't agree with the connections above. It's hard to explain. I really need to show the screenshots. Why are there several versions (at times) of this feature being used at the same time?
