Virus is blocking avast & internet

After turning on my computer today I saw it wasnt getting a internet connection. Tried to load avast to run a scan but it would not open. Restarted the computer in safe mode but avast still cant function. It opens then says it needs to restart. How can I fix this? Running windows 7 pro.

naaaa ... dont think so.

Malware want your computer to function and have connection, if not it cant do the malicious things it was designed to do

Have you tried avast repair and reboot?

The repair helped, thank you. What would cause that to happen then? I've had avast run a scan now that its working and it came up with nothing.
