Avast Preventing Restore
« on: May 04, 2019, 02:25:59 PM »
I began experiencing some power/sleep issues on my Dell XPS 13 and decided to reset the machine to an earlier restore point. The process repeated failed using different restore points. The error message I received indicated that the issue was with Avast files.

The error said "System retore failed in delayed file move operation for the file [directory]/Program Files/AVAST Software/Avast/aswhook.dll."

Any ideas how to overcome this?

Thanks for your help.

Try disabling Avast Self-Protection before you begin your restore point process.

Open Avast GUI (Program Window)>Menu>Settings>Troubleshooting>Untick Enable Self-Defense>Reboot>Ensure Self-Defense is still disabled on reboot.

Restore your restore point.

Re-enable avast self-defense and reboot.  Ensure Self-Defense is running on restart.
