Exams available late Q3 2006

As a CompTIA A+ certified individual, you already know the value of holding a certification that is an internationally recognized standard. Although your CompTIA A+ certification will remain valid, you now have the option to update your skills. In late Q3, CompTIA is releasing an update to CompTIA A+ that will allow you to validate your technology skills in specific job environments.

The updated offering will still cover the latest core competencies in hardware and software technologies, with additional domains such as security and soft skills.

Since you are already CompTIA A+ certified, you have the option of taking one of three available second exams to recertify. Candidates can take any number of exams to achieve one or more of the available designations: IT Technician, Remote Support Technician or Depot Technician.

Your candidate record will be updated with your new certification date and the concentration or concentrations you have successfully passed. This will show employers that you not only understand the latest technologies, but you know how to apply them in the most relevant job environment. The options available are:
CompTIA A+ 220-602: The CompTIA A+ 220-602 exam is targeted for individuals who work or intend to work in a mobile or corporate environment with a high level of face-to-face client interaction. Examples of job roles include: Enterprise Technician, IT Administrator, Field Service Technician and PC Technician. Ideally, the CompTIA A+ 220-602 candidate has already passed the CompTIA A+ Essentials examination. Candidates who pass the CompTIA A+ Essentials and CompTIA A+ 220-602 exams will be CompTIA A+ certified with the IT Technician designation.
CompTIA A+ 220-603: The CompTIA A+ 220-603 examination is targeted for individuals who work or intend to work in a remote-based work environment where client interaction, client training, operating system and connectivity issues are emphasized. Example job roles include: Remote Support Technician, Help Desk Technician and Call Center Technician. Ideally, the CompTIA A+ 220-603 candidate has already passed the CompTIA A+ Essentials examination. Candidates who pass the CompTIA A+ Essentials and the CompTIA A+ 220-603 exams will be CompTIA A+ certified with the Remote Support Technician designation.
CompTIA A+ 220-604: The CompTIA A+ 220-604 examination is targeted for individuals who work or intent work in settings where hardware related activities are emphasized. Example job roles include: Depot Technician and Bench Technician. Ideally, the CompTIA A+ 220-604 candidate has already passed the CompTIA A+ Essentials examination. Candidates who pass the CompTIA A+ Essentials and the CompTIA A+ 220-604 exams will be CompTIA A+ certified with the Depot Technician designation.
Your CareerID number will reflect the most recent certification date as well. This is the perfect opportunity to validate your skill set.

The updated offering allows you to choose the path most appropriate for your job environment and goals. You can even earn all three CompTIA A+ designations.

The updated CompTIA A+ will be available in late Q3 2006. For more information about the updated CompTIA A+ offering, including exam objectives, visit certification.comptia.org/a+.
