I updated to 4.78-871 and now my avast icon does not turn when it scans.Is it working?

Check this setting is ticked.

Have you checked the On-Access protection, Standard Shield, does the Scanned Count: increase, is there any activity there ?
What providers are running ?
What is your OS ?

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

thanks David i turned comp off and it works fine.when i downloaded i just did a restart?The scan count did increase before i shut down so i guess all was working but for the turning icon.Thanks for the quick help!
