Threat Warning/Threat Secured not exiting
« on: November 22, 2019, 09:06:15 PM »
I get a threat warning (Threat Secured) that does not go away, unless I reboot the computer.
If I "X" it off, it comes back within a few seconds, even wit no apps active.
A scan reports no malware present.

How do I turn it OFF after its initial warning?

I have attached a screen print of it.

Well that site according to your attached image appears to be redirecting to another site which is Blacklisted.

1.  If you intentionally connecting to the first URL in your image (I suspect not) ?

2. If so is it normal that it would redirect to the second 'adult' site ?
If not then that site could be hacked

3. If you aren't connecting to the first site, then something on your system is trying to connect to it.
Be that your browser or malicious/suspect add-on.  Or something on your system is trying to make this connection.
This would appear to be the  case if you aren't running any apps.

If so this needs further analysis by a malware removal specialist:

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm not sure which URL I connected to initially, but this warning has come up before many times. Most often when I select another URL listed in the original.
When it does come up I exit that URL, and if it was the original URL I delete it from my bookmarks if it is there.

When it first started several months ago, after clean scans and multiple reboots, I removed and reinstalled Avast, but it came back a few weeks later.

I complained to AVAST months ago after that via support and got zero response.

I closed all apps and just ran a new scan. Avast reports all is clean, but the warning keeps coming back until I reboot.

I use Firefox, latest update, with very few add-ons.  Those I do use are clean.

Curiously, about a week ago, I got this warning, but when I "X"ed it out, it did not come back.  Only happened that one time. I thought an Avast update fixed it.

I just reviewed your suggested links and it would appear to be a time consuming task so I have to leave it be for now.
I'll start it up when I have some free time later.

Thanks again.

Time consuming it might be, but it really is (time well spent) to find and get rid of this.

Contacting Avast Support is unlikely to get a response as they too would require more detailed information.  That said the support is more aligned with program related issues for the paid products.

The fact that Avast isn't detecting this (if on your system as my questions are geared to this) then the tools suggested are the way of getting that information.  Effectively you are being asked to run two tools, MBAM that is more geared to malware and may actually find something that avast doesn't (protection in depth).  The other analysis tool 'Farbar Recovery Scan Tool' gives vital information that a malware removal specialist to hel them resolve this.

Its your system, so it really is your choice.
