Creepy Startup Messages/Ads (Free)
« on: November 29, 2019, 04:08:54 PM »
Now I've been using Avast free for a while because I don't see buying premium fit. But for a while, Avast has opened up when my PC starts up (like any other app) it gives me creepy messages. Now I had ignored this for a while but now it's getting on my nerves that Avast is searching my "sensitive" documents. I'm fine with seeing it's VPN ad as it's only tracking my IP address which most applications already do. But to the point where it's searching my documents, that's just creepy. The real tide twister here is that I have no documents non-game related, and if any, no sensitive ones. The fact that it even went to output a false positive to make me pay for premium is just sad. Please get rid of these messages, they are starting to get creepily annoying and making me reconsider using Avast.

Avast's marketing strategy is worse and misleading.Avast had to limit this.You have to ignore as a free user.

You can disable the ads in the "paid" versions: Avast GUI -> Settings -> Personal Privacy
PC- Windows10 EDU 64Bit,avast! free 21.1.2449,uBlock Origin,NVT_OSA,GoogleChrome(64bit),CCleaner,Unchecky,ZAM Free,Shadow Defender.

If you mean the UI, that's not normal.

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
