out of the blue avast popped up saying my device was not secure. Its not saying wifi router, its saying my macbook pro.

I checked my router anyway. Its clean. Static DNS servers configured (those supplied by my ISP and I have been using for 10 years).

If I look on my mac, which it says where the problem is, I see the DNS servers are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (because I hard coded them as this, it doesnt get them from my DHCP serving router).

So what is the hijack, and how do I fix?

All these false alarms is not conducive to better security.  My gripe is the alarms that Avast Free raises for non-existent cameras.  I have slowly (everything I do nowadays is slow) learned that the blue spot on the system tray Avast icon can be ignored.  Orange spots are more important and red spots must be investigated.  I hope that false alarms are not showing other than blue.

What worries me is that all these false alarms might cause a real alarm to be ignored or else reduce alertness for scams.
