JindrichK, Lukor

I really want to have the option to remove this in Chrome, I cannot get QuikAllowed removed in Policies. I will take the risks by turning this off, but you should allow me to change this in Chrome. I freaked out when I saw I was being "managed", and thought I had a virus until I found this thread.

You can check the policy by visiting chrome://policy
Please see previous message. I understand your good intent, but I really don't want that text showing up being "managed". Please provide a way to turn this off and I will be fine with the risks associated.

I dont understand why is in Web shield settings "Enable QUIC scanning" if dont work and must be disabled by chrome policy. That means we was not protected until now? In previous versions of Avast were no policy and scanning of QUIC was enabled in Web shield settings. Also there are other browser, for example Opera, if i open it there is no message about policy that means Opera and other browsers users are not protected if website uses QUIC?

As already stated, I'm also fine for now with Avast's decision but, would also like to know how to turn this off.

@lukor
It would help credibility if all posts by Avast staff members and developers could be clearly identified by showing the "Avast Team" Avatar, as shown by @lukor.
Is the reason @JindrichK does not have this indication because he is a "newbie"?

It was his first post and who knows if there will be any others.

Not so much because of being a Newbie

It is more a case of the Chicken or the Egg, which comes first, an account 'set up' for the Avast Team member or, a first post by an Avast Team member.  More the Administrator playing catch up.

I have seen many such cases where the Avast Team member status has happened after a first post.  So not unusual, but would be preferable in normal times to have the Avast Team Group assigned to his account, so you could see the Avast Team and Avast Icon below that.

Agreed.
We should be able to know whether it is a real Avast Team member replying or an imposter.

There are many people watching out for spammers, that too would also mean looking out for imposters, people purporting to be from Avast.

Yes, Jindrich is kind of a newbie on the forums, but he is with Avast for a couple of months already. We'll get his profile marked as Avast team soon. Thanks for pointing this out.

Guys, thanks to everyone who contacted us here. We plan to change the behavior of the QUIC scanning. For the period of time until a full blown scanning is released in Avast, we will continue to provide security of the connections by blocking QUIC in google by the policy (the most transparent way, as opposed to other mechanisms that are available, like simply blocking QUIC traffic :-) and let the browser handle it). However, once you, the user, disable QUIC scanning - we will ignore such connections completely and won't block QUIC inside browsers. (and remove the policy from the registry).

Would that be ok for you?

PS: Malware authors, if you are reading this, please don't move your servers to QUIC. Thanks!

Customizability is one of the best things in Avast, so I welcome the way :)
Though I keep QUIC scanning enabled as I prefer protection

I guess that was the polite way to tell us to not turn off the protection offered by Avast. :)
