ASB Extension duplication?
« on: June 29, 2020, 07:15:33 PM »
I have Avast Online Security extension (20.2.500) added by me from Chrome Store to view web reputations from search lists.
I notice that Avast also includes a different Avast Online Security (20.1.480) extension by policy.
I don't think these AOS extensions do the same thing, so why are they called the same thing?
Also why do you have to toggle Developer Mode to see all extensions and their settings?
An explanation would be good. Also whether both can be (or should be) switched on, or just the latest one.

Hello rocksteady,

Could you please share your Diagnostic information?

1. Open the browser and click on the menu icon (3 dots in upright corner)
2. Click on “Help and About Avast Secure Browser” and then “About Avast Secure Browser”
3. Click on “Diagnostic Information” (this will open a pop-up window)
4. Click the “COPY TO CLIPBOARD” button to capture the information and paste it here.

Thank you

I have just uninstalled ASB (without deleting everything) and reinstalled.
Only difference is:
Avast Online Security 20.1.480 now shows "Disabled" in extensions.
Avast Online Security 20.2.500 shows "Enabled".

Hi,

That's correct behavior. Our new Secure Browser comes with disabled AOS.
AOS protection has been integrated into the browser. You have added the AOS 20.2.500 by your own.
In this case, everything is OK
