Windows XP SP2 is Now a Must
« on: September 14, 2006, 03:00:40 PM »
Windows XP service pack 2 has been released for a long time yet many users have never installed it. In some cases this is simple ignorance but quite often it's because of the problems it causes when installed. The case for installing SP2 is overwhelming on security grounds alone. Now you have another reason: Microsoft support for Windows XP SP1 ends on October 11. If you have had problems with installing XP2 then sort them out by consulting this site [1] or Microsoft's special SP2 support site [2].

I would aggree. Not only because it has closed many vulnerabilities, but some updates you can only get if you have SP2 installed, one in question is IE6 SP2 can only be installed if you have XP SP2, the same is likely to be true for IE7 as and when it is finally released.

As far as I know there is SP3 planned for XP, but it will be released after Vista is release. (the SP3 will include some of Vista's functions, but I'm not sure which ones).

Why doesn't Microsoft have any fun and develop some new Themes and wallpaper for Windows Xp? I mean... I would every once in awhile. Anyways, yes... I would like some features from Vista to go towards Xp as well. Man... that would be a large update though  ::)

To those of my friend back home: They state that SP2 is a resource hog and I somewhat understand to what they are saying. They think having all the updates will use more MB in Memory and thats somewhat true and not true.

How many wallpapers would you like?

They may not be from MS but they aren't the only ones who can make them.  :)
