I understand what you are saying but it doesn't explain why it has worked, at uni, all the time absolutely perfect until now, this is why i am so stumped.  ive never needed to prat about with the connection settings before cos its never been a problem

I have no idea why or if any other variables have changed at the Uni proxy, etc. all I'm trying to do is try and help you get it working again.

Thanks so much for your help with all of this.  I have someone i know who knows a lot about the uni server without me havin to go to the arrogant gits who run it ;D I'll see what he says and then i might just uninstall it and re-install it if he comes up with a blank.

It's so irritating as im female and in need of buying boots, lol!!

Thanks for your help tho and i'll be sure to keep you informed of what ends up happenin.
