Auto Renewal -Hate it? I do to!

How many of you consumers absolutely HATE the automatic renewal of any of their VERY FINE tools?  I absolutely love the AVAST tools but HATE having them hit my account without letting me choose whether to continue or not. Yes I know they do have - if you search hard enough for it! - the option to DESELECT the automatic renewal tool, I found it and DESELECTED,, BUT they did the automatic renew anyway.  It has happened to me twice and it's an ordeal to get the charge reversed even with PayPal's assistance. AVAST, if you read this message PLEASE allow us to review the charges you intend to charge us at least a couple of weeks BEFORE you charge. Your products are excellent but seeing the charges change to twice, three times more than the initial cost AFTER YOU'VE CHARGED OUR CARD IS NUTS and it causes we the consumer - AND YOU - a huge PITA. I would love to renew but will not strictly because of this auto renew thing. There,, I've said it..

We always notify you about all subscription payments in advance by email.
In most Avast products, your subscription details (including your next billing date) are visible via ☰ Menu ▸ My Subscriptions.

There are different ways to cancel a subscription. You can cancel an Avast subscription via your Avast Account, via the Avast Customer Portal or by contacting Avast Support.

Instead of reversing a charge you can contact us and request a refund. If you are not completely satisfied with your Avast product, contact us within 30 days of purchase to receive a full refund.

Thank you for your reply and for the information. I was notified via email - BUT - my PayPal account had already been charged AND the charges were much more than I had paid previously. i did expect the cost would not be the same as the introductory charge but the cost was almost triple. I reversed the charge because I wanted my money back in my account,, I did not want to wait for weeks for a refund. Had I been given adequate notification what the costs would be the entire fiasco - for me - could have been avoided.  Thank you again for your reply. I still have my Avast Premium in service until next October and with that service I am pleased. I looked into adding other services but see right up front I must sign up for AUTO RENEWAL to add those services. Because of that I will not add them.

In my opinion, auto-renewal should be an option, not a default.
