BANK MODE
« on: March 19, 2021, 06:31:28 PM »
I recently updated my laptop running Win 10 with Avast Premium Security/APS and Avast Secure Browser/ASB. The updates were for Windows and one was for Lenovo which is the laptop brand. ABS is also up to date. So now when I open the secure browser Security and Privacy Center there is no option for BANK MODE. Where did it go to?

I think it's a mistake in version 89 of the Secure browser. Sometimes a restart of the Secure browser helps, sometimes not.
CTRL B works well.
OS: Windows 10 Home
Soft: Avast Premium Security  / Avast Cleanup / Malwarebytes Premium

I restarted the computer and the browser so it seems to be working for now.

I had the same issue in the previous version 88.xxxxx reported it to tech support and was told it would be fixed in this version. It still seems to be entirely erratic. At one point I thought it could be related to the VPN, but abandoned that idea after further testing. It still needs fixing!

I have the same problem also since today. ASB has been in operation for a long time until today.

Yes, I fixed the problem with the avast bank mode extension. This extension is hidden.

How to fix the problem: Start avast secure browser-> choose extensions by clicking on the 3 small vertical dots-> On the extensions page activate developer mode at the top right, the hidden extensions will appear-> deactivate the "avast extension bank mode "-> close avast secure browser and restart it. The "avast bank mode" extension will automatically reactivate and in the security and confidentiality center bank mode is back.  ;D

edit: If bank mode has not returned to the security center, restart the computer and launch avast secure browser.

I believe that the bank mode disappears when using privacy cleaner. In privacy cleaner I have "all data" and all the options checked except the last one in the advanced mode.

The extension isn't hidden. You need to allow Developer Mode.
Once that's set to ON, the extensions show.

@ bob3160 Yes that's what I indicated in my message.

If you launch avast secure browser after restarting the computer as indicated in my previous message, wait a few minutes, it depends on the boot time of the pc, to launch avast secure browser otherwise the bank mode will not appear. In this case close A.S.B and restart it after a moment of waiting.

Not exactly but if it makes you happy.
It also isn't required that your restart the computer.
Just restart the browser.
The changes made aren't system changes just browser changes.

We're not going to play on words.  ;) I could not have said hidden.
When I used privacy cleaner and the bank mode option disappeared, disabling avast bank mode and relaunching A.S.B was not enough. If A.S.B works with avast antivirus then I think there are system changes. I will try again.

Again, Bank Mode did not disappear, It was hidden because Developer Mode was turned off.
I'm finished with this topic since you are the excerpt.

I didn't understand that. I will try this method and mine over several months.

I tried again. I used privacy cleaner, closed and relaunched A.S.B, the bank mode was there. I closed and relaunched A.S.b about fifteen times, the bank mode disappeared and appeared randomly. I restarted the pc, launched closed A.S.B several times, the bank mode disappeared and appeared randomly. I disabled the avast bank mode extension and closed launched A.S.B several times, bank mode always appeared in the security center.
I did not need to restart the pc this time.
