1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Install again the last 4.7.942 version and see if it solves your problem?

The versioninfo of avast! executables didn't change during the recent bugfix releases, i.e. you'll see 4.7.936 in the file properties, even if you have 4.7.942.

When exactly does this error appear? (when you are running a scan, or when you are starting the program, or some other time...?)
