could someone pls help!

greetings! I am having 1 heck of a time getting rid of

WORM_SPYBOT.GEN
Aliases: W32/spybot.worm.gen, Worm.P2P.spybot.gen, Win32/HLLW.spybot, Win32.spybot worm

I have tried everything I can do
when I try to open up my regedit program this worm/virus shuts it down before I can even click hkeylocalmachine
I have tried using the avast cleaner tool as well
and I DONT have Kazza nor any file d-loading/sharing programs on this com
any help greatfully received!

Hi cyberfilly,

please tell us which Win you have ..

where exactly was the worm found ? (full path and filename from avast'S report/logfiles)
you might also scan the file with Trend & KAV (see below; pause avast shield first), to get a more specific name..

did you try starting the computer in SafeMode (F8-boot) and removing the file then ? ;)

Greetings again!
Im using windows XP, not sure of the full path,
I tried using trendmicro,Kav and norton, none of these found it
 it was found by Mcafee , when I booted in safe mode the worm was NOT showing up anywhere lol
BUT! I think that when I d-loaded the av home addition rather than using the online scan it fixed the problem I did get notice of the worm and deleted/cleaned the affected files!
so.... heres crossing fingers (and toes) that its all gone!
