On-Demand Scanner
« on: May 12, 2007, 09:13:16 AM »
Thanks for the info ;). I'm thinking of using Spyware Terminator and Spybot S&D, which has residents scanners.

There's another term which i don't really understand. What is On-demand scanner? Is it the same as resident scanners?

I'm also considering using Comodo BOClean. Is it compatible with Avast?

If i use 2 different kinds of Anti-spyware programmes with resident scanners, will both of the programmes contradict each other?

Hi Kenpg,
Avast! isn't an antispyware software, please keep this in mind 8)
On-demand scanner means that you can decide WHEN you want to scan your HDD with Avast! 8)
...this isn't like "resident" wich means that Avast! is working on background ;)
Sorry I'm not good with english language 8)

You also need to take care if using the resident protection in S&D as the TeaTimer can kill the avast system tray icon, ashDisp.exe.
