i uninstalled and reinstalled and am still getting the reboot thing. i'm not a geek. how can i fix this?

How many administrator accounts do you have in this computer, I mean, accounts with admin rights?
Did you install avast from the scratch, creating avast folder (and not using an existing folder to install it)?
Did you run Avast Uninstall tool for complete uninstallation?
Which Windows are you using?

admin rights? this is my home computer. i am the only user.

i used the uninstall that was in the add/remove programs folder. after i reinstalled it the next day it updated to the .1001 and the reboot problem was there again.

i have windows millenium

I'm feeling a lack of support from Alwil team about the reboot problem...
