Zoom and Avast
« on: June 28, 2021, 02:54:56 PM »
Hi,

Recently I have noticed Zoom keeps closing 10 seconds once it loads. I get a notification from avast on zoom accessing the webcam which I allow, thereafter it shutsdown.

Once I disable all shields Zoom seems to work.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Personally I prefer to use Zoom in a dedicated browser, and I have no problems either.

Greetz, Red.
OS: Win 10 / iOS 17 / Debian 12 / Tails 5
Real Time: Avast Premium Security
On Demand: Malwarebytes
VPN: NordVPN ( NordLynx ) with Threat Protection ( Lite )

Using it in a browser is fine if you're joining a meeting.
If you're hosting the meeting, it's best to use the app/program.

Hi,

Try using "Smart Mode" and make sure that you did not accidentally block Zoom instead of allowing it.
[Open Avast Premium Security > Privacy > Webcam Shield > Settings > (Smart Mode ; View allowed / blocked apps)

Why do my settings look totally different? No Smart Mode.

Hi,

You seem to have an older version (but you do have smart mode selected).

I run Onmi and I'm on the latest beta version. So, I should be totally up-to-date.

So, why isn't the OMNI product being updated along with the other version? The software component
should be as up to date as the other software versions of Avast. :)
