But can anybody really say, "This programme is nice, and that one is not"?

My experience:
Some time ago I had Error Doctor 2007 to check my system's integrity, and had no problems. Neither Avast Home 4.7, nor Spyware Terminator 2 Beta found problems with it either.

Three days ago I installed Ad-aware SE (for on-demand scanning), and ran "full system's check".
To make it short: Ad-aware SE found Error Doctor 2007 to be a "gigantic threat" to my system and completely removed it. The threat level (TAC) of Error Doctor 2007 was estimated as "3", but one of it's files' TAC was equal to "10"!

Both Spyware Terminator 2 Beta and Ad-aware SE have the latest databases with malware signatures. So, please, choose the right variant:
     a) Error Doctor 2007 is a threat to your system;
     b) Error Doctor 2007 is "falsly accused";
     c) Ad-aware SE is better than Spyware Terminator 2 Beta;
     d) Ad-aware SE is a rouge antispyware;
     e) Spyware Terminator 2 Beta and Ad-aware SE have different "points of view".

May the FOSS be with you!

Hi George Yves,

Here is an authority to go by:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
You can add their search to your search engines and check on it before ever considering using it.

Thanks for the link, polonus. But according to their data both Ad-aware and Spyware Terminator are trustworthy. So, the differences are in their definitions' files, aren't they?

May the FOSS be with you!

This is from the Spyware warrior website.

Note on SpywareTerminator:  We originally listed Spyware Terminator on this page out of concerns that Crawler, the company behind the product, had established connections with IBIS, a well known adware distributor responsible for such adware programs as Wintools, Websearch, & Huntbar. Although we found no problems in our initial testing with Spyware Terminator, and while the vendor itself announced that it was exiting the adware business (1), we decided out of caution to impose a three month probation period before we would consider re-testing and, if warranted, de-listing the the product from the Rogue/Suspect list. During that three month probation period we monitored the behavior of IBIS and Crawler. At the end of the three month probation period we re-tested Spyware Terminator, again finding no problems serious enough to justify listing the program on this page. As the vendor involved has not been involved in the distribution of adware for many months, and as the program itself exhibits no problems serious enough to warrant mention on this page, we have decided to de-list Spyware Terminator from the Rogue/Suspect list and can no longer regard the program to be "rogue/suspect."

i'm testing mbam and the people behind it i trust  :) and if this spyware-sweeper was a good program would we not here more about it  :) look at SuperAntispyware when it first came out no one was sure about it and now thay use it in highjack this log readings  :) i also asked about this spyware-sweeper at spywarewarrior here http://www.spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=25647 the choice is yours but a spam bot that goes around posting the same thing over and over is not a good way to sell something when there is a lot of good free ones out there  :)

:)  Hi George ( & Others ) :

     "Spyware Terminator' is NOT listed as a trustworthy program by
     Eric Howes at his spywarewarrior website .

We are more than aware of that you keep banging on about it and its supposed chequered history. The same site also clearly states there is nothing wrong 'now' it is not on the rogue anti-spyware lists.

There must be absolutely hundreds of applications NOT listed in the trustworthy programs section, that DOESN'T make them untrustworthy

If we are talking trustworthy I wouldn't trust Microsoft Windows as far as I could throw Bill Gates, but I'm using much of there software.

got a question for someone who uses spyware terminator and i took if off for this reason when i had it installed-i noticed in my add/remove programs it was taking up @450.00MB instead of the usual say 20-25 its supposed to be...
i emailed their tech support and got a reply that there was a bug in my operating system in my add/remove program and too check it manually with a program polonus mentioned and i got the same amount that way checking it manually....does anyone has the same amount in their add/remove programs ??? ::)

Hi Dan,

Yes remember that one, that wasn't kosher, was it? From where you downloaded that one, you should do some investigation using your tuvbar inside FF if you dare to use it, because what was on that server at that moment...weird, my friend, at least what I got from your story!

P.S. Is not this a beautiful American animal?
