From a recent article in PC World 15 Great Free Security Programs
I've compiled what I consider are 11 Great Free Security Programs.

True.  It's your list, so you can put whatever you want on your list.

But, the title "Great Free Security Programs" excludes them.

But, its still your list, so you can put whatever meets your opinion.  ;D

Great is a subjective description and is no different to an individual choice of the 11 programs on the list.

There are many, many forum users who are using the comodo firewall feel it is a good free firewall despite your reservations about comodo in general, which you still haven't shown any evidence to support that view. So people will make their minds up based on how the firewall performs for 'them.'

I don't use comodo firewall not because I don't feel it is bad, but because I have a lifetime license for Outpost pro firewall. If however, I did become dissatisfied with Outpost then I would most certainly try comodo based on its reviews and results in firewall leak tests.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

nice to see bob that you rated the 2 "best" programs first and of course "no.1" is Avast!-any arguments or disagreements on that choice-lets hope not  ::) ??? :)

+1

Been using CPF for 2 years now and with good results. I am very happy with it. Much better than my previous firewall Kerio.

No question, no doubt, avast! is the best!  It is #1.

Not when it comes down to detection, avira is the best of the free AV's on detection rates. The lack of an email on-access scanner, more FP's than avast! and the simple fact avast! is much more customizable is what is keeping me with avast! .

Is there any way (besides the mess with service names, etc.) to use Avira as a second, non-resident, scanner?

This has just been updated.
Following AOL's latest blunder, I'm no longer recommending their security suite.  :( :'( >:(
