Demo License
« on: August 17, 2007, 05:41:55 PM »
Downloaded and installed program yesterday, 16 Aug 2007. Tried to update virus database and received notice license had expired 15 Oct 2006. Database will not update. Server time (EST) was set correctly during installation. Would like to demo product prior to purchase. Is there a fix?

Thanks in advance.

Please check the system time on the server. It sounds like the year value is incorrectly set... (2006?)
BTW where did you download the program from? Our official website? (www.avast.com)

Thanks

System time is correct and has been since 2004. The server time is updated every 30 minutes and is used as a NTP server for the internal network. Yes, the program was download from your official download site.

I forgot to mention the OS. Windows 2003 Enterprise Server.

Thanks

Something seems strange with server version and licenses...

I agree that it does seem that way. Right now I have a server without up-to-date protection. Now, how does the problem get solved? Or do I invest $739.00 elsewhere?

Did you download the latest setup? If you run it with commandline parameter:
avsrv_ful.exe /v
it should display "This setup: setup_av_srv-2fe (766)

For now you can download correct demo license valid until October 13 2007 here:

I'm having exactly the same problem.

I installed demo software a few months ago. Today I bought a license (server license for Win 2003)
When I told it to update the s/w, it tells me I'm good thru Dec08 and that today is (correctly) OCt1, but that my license is invalid or expired.

how do I get this license working? do I switch to your demo license file, update the s/w, and then put back my own license file?

You installed demo with server plugins that are not coverd by your license you entered later.
Open Add/Remove programs control panel - avast! Antivirus, select Change, and uncheck the box at Additional features that you don't have licensed. Finish the wizard, restart, then check update again.
