Hello Florida ! 

The O2 entries are browser helper objects or in short BHO.
If you don't have Yahoo companion toolbar installed anymore you can remove this entry:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)

The O4 entries are programs that are autoloading from the registry or the startup group.
Bellow entries should be gone after the next reboot you make:

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\RunOnce: [ShowDeskFix] regsvr32 /s /n /i:u shell32 (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [ShowDeskFix] regsvr32 /s /n /i:u shell32 (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunOnce: [ShowDeskFix] regsvr32 /s /n /i:u shell32 (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [ShowDeskFix] regsvr32 /s /n /i:u shell32 (User 'Default user')

AFAIK this command regsvr32 /s /n /i:u shell32 restores the Show Desktop icon to Quick Launch bar . And since you only need to run it once to restore the icon there is no use in letting it run on every boot, right ?
First reboot your computer and then run HijackThis again and if the above O4 entries are still there, remove them.

The O9 entries are extra buttons on IE. All these entries from your log are perfectly safe. I would leave them alone.
That's it, please post a fresh log after you've cleaned the entries so we can double check if everything is as it should be.


P.S: Just out of curiosity, i see you're using Mcafee for your AV, what made you come to avast! forums for help ?

Yes the O4 entries are still there, have you tried removing them ?

You can safely remove them as they are not critical system entries. You can backup your registry or create a restore point prior to removing, if you are worried. Infact it's always good to make a backup before messing with any system settings.

Flygirl before you go ahead and install avast!, please make sure that you uninstalled Mcafee first trough the control panel.
After that you can run this tool to make sure it's completely gone and there are no leftover registry entries that could conflict with avast! ... http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/faq3.asp?docid=420229

Yes I did have Avast until my time period ran out. Don't worry, I'm getting it back though.       

Well, I am still a little confused about this. If you originally had avast pro, you could have easily reverted back to the free avast home. When avast home nears the end of it's free license period, you should get a warning message to renew the license again. This only requires asking for a new registration key which is again free.

Hi Charley, I know it sounds all confusing about me switching over to McAfee Security, which had a AntiVirus and a Firewall,  but if you have a new look at my new Highjack This log, then you might see Avast! has been installed once again lol.
 
I'd like to know if anyone here can help me find a new firewall besides Zonealarm because I had trouble the last time I had the program?
