unable to install avast because apparently it is already installed
« on: September 15, 2021, 11:27:42 PM »
I've made the mistake of deleting avast by using the trash. I was trying to delete avast because respondus lockdown browser wasn't working and I needed it for an exam. And now when I tried to install avast they are telling me that I'm unable to do so because it is already installed on my laptop. I've tried to search if I can find avast anywhere or any avast files but I didn't find anything. Does anyone knows how I can fix this problem? Thank you

Hello,
delete  /Library/Application Support/Avast directory, eg. by running Terminal and executing this command in it
Code: [Select]
sudo rm -rf /Library/Application\ Support/Avastafterwards you should be able to install it again. If it still fails, restart the computer (that should not be needed for BigSur, only for older versions of MacOS in specific circumstances).
Kind regards,
