Can you whitelist an app?

Every time my cloud backup IDrive runs, I hear my fan spin up and see Avast using 25% to 30% of CPU. Is there a way to whitelist the app to avoid this?

That appears to just exclude selected files or folders from being scanned. What I was looking for was a way to select an app to be ignored by the AV.
