Avast stopped my camera & I can't change it.
« on: February 24, 2022, 10:26:15 AM »
Hi All,
I'm new to Avast and I'm finding it difficult to understand the programs I have purchased.  In fact, don't even ask me what programs I have bought........!
My problem is that Avast blocked my camera from use on Zoom, & I could not find how I could temporarily disable it.

Can anyone help?

Which avast product? Free? Avast One? Other? Free version or paid version?
What makes you think it's Avast that is blocking the camera?

I got the same issue with my webcam and Avast One.
Avast says it does not even recognize my web cam (the integrated one as well as my GoPro).
Even if I disable the web cam protection manually the video is not provided.
I need to deactivate the whole Avast One application in order for both my web cams to work.

Avast also does not let me add applications to the authentication list to let me decide on my own.
Can anybody help me with that?
If this is not working Avast makes no sense to me since I'm working almost completely remote and really need to use both web cams for the communication with my team.

I'm using an Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio with Windows 11 and Avast One.

Check the firewall component in Avast One
Make sure that's not what's blocking the camera.

after repairing Avast I was able to add the apps to the "not blocking" list and it worked.
Thank you.

as I mentioned in another tread. The firewall is still blocking my GoPro as web cam.
Since Avast recognizes the GoPro as an own network and I cannot change this network to "trusted".
Thus Avast is still blocking my GoPro as a web cam.

The solution now is to disable the Avast firewall for good and using the Windows firewall. With that everything works fine ...
