Disable avast! Notices
« on: December 27, 2007, 10:40:49 PM »
Every day after Avast downloads and updated its definitions I get the following email:

The virus database (VPS 0XXXXX-0) was automatically updated.

Can these messages be disabled without having to disable SMTP completely?

You could receive this email before updating. You should have registered your email in Program Settings > Update (Basic) > Details > Registration.
You shouldn't receive any email after avast is updated.
If you receive the first email and avast is already updated, it will say so...

Hello,
Do somebody know how to turn off the action to receive the message "virus database (VPS XXXXX-X) was automatically updated"?

Regards,

Open avast > Settings > Sounds

The topic you jumped on to is almost 3 years old and really would have been better to have started a new topic.

What avast version are you using (avast 4.8 Home/Pro or avast 5.0 Free/Pro/Suite), as there is no such setting in avast5, the current version ?

These emails are by subscription only so at some point in the past you would have to have subscribed to the service ?
