It's O.K!
I've just figured it out. It's under custom scans.I never set it (obviously) but a Smart scan was set for once a month. There's a delete option.
Hopefully job done.

Yes the Preview is text based only.

Yes that should be the end of it.

I have been using Avast for a very long time that pre-dates the so called Smart Scan and when it did come along I don't recall it being set to Automatic scan.  For me subsequent program updates haven't changed that.  So I'm wondering if this is for new installations.

For me the Smart Scan is more of a vehicle to promote other Avast paid products.  I don't like that display, where the only way to find out what these so called 'Advanced Issues' are is to install the trial.  I would NEVER do that, I'm sure there used to be an option to see what these were and for the most part I already had them covered.

I rarely if ever run on-demand scans and that includes the not so Smart Scan (though mine never started automatically).  For a resident on-access antivirus like Avast, on-demand scans are a much depreciated requirement.

Avast UI > Protection > Custom Scans

Here you can Check/Modify the Settings or Delete.

Thank you for those screenshots.
I can not reproduce the first one. Could it be that you have a paid-for version ?
They are both at the limit of readability, so I can only go by their general appearance.

Top left corner indicates I have Avast Free Antivirus.

In what way can't you replicate it ? - is it that the Smart Scan doesn't appear there in the Avast UI > Protection > Custom Scans

What is "at the limit of readability" (My screenshots or your screen display) ?

PROTECTION has 10 entries, which do NOT include 'Custom Scans'.
Unreadability may well be the fault of my screen display.

Sorry my poor wording.
Protection doesn't have Custom Scans - it is in the very first object on that Screen 'Virus Scans' (screenshot attached, click to expand).
Now you should be able to see Custom Scans as per my 2nd screenshot.

THAT allowed me to delete the monthly schedule; presumably, that will now stop. Thank you.

Hopefully that should stop it.
