Help with avast deleting itself
« on: August 06, 2023, 10:48:41 PM »
I have had Avast for a while now, but this time when I booted my PC, and I went to oven Avast, I got an error: It couldn't find the file associated with the shortcut (avast UI) I checked my local and roaming appdata, and couldn't find any files. I am the only one that uses my PC. Does anyone know why?

I don't use Avast One, so I can't speak from personal experience.

In Avast Antivirus there is an ability to try running a Repair, when the UI (User Interface) is opened, check Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > scroll down to Repair APP.

If you are able to navigate to this, try and replicate this run the Repair APP and then do a system restart.
Whilst the UI, look and feel may differ I think it should also have this.

I did a search on this - see - https://support.avast.com/en-gb/article/repair-antivirus/#pc and Select Avast One.

Yea, avast one doesn't have that. I managed to reinstall avast, and kept all my settings. Just wondering what could have done it.

You can actually do it, not in the way I described for Avast Antivirus, but from Windows10/11, Programs/Apps and Features as outlined in the link I posted.
