Anti Exploit Shield - Securing Taskeng.exe --Why?
« on: November 08, 2023, 11:31:48 AM »
On  10/21/2023 Free AVAST Updated to Version 2310.6086 – build 23.10.8563.801.
Since that time this message keeps popping up:

attachment 1

Nothing is open and running on the PC.
No one is using the PC at the time the pop up displays.
The first time it “secured” taskeng.exe(5716). This time it is taskeng.exe(6596).

1)   What does secure mean?
        a.   Nothing appears in Quarantine
2)   What is taskeng.exe?  I found this on line…

attachment 2

3)   Is this message a false positive?
4)   Is there some action I should be taking?

I have run a scan in AVAST and Malwarebytes and found no issues.

Thank you for any insight you can provide.

I have the same problem. After the weekend, when the computer was not running, Avast suddenly started displaying this prompt.

Ever since the Version update to Version 23.11.6090 build 23.11.8635.804
the pop up comes every hour.

After 6 hours it seems to have stopped, for the time being.
Even if this is a false positive, it is really annoying.
Hope they can fix whatever is causing this....

I am getting similar issues, today the anti exploit went crazy and is blocking several windows processes, taskhost, searchfilterhost, prevhost, dllhost, claiming they are infected with Win64:Evo-Gen[Tri], already uploaded them to virustotal and nothing was found, should I assume it's just a false positive? Windows 8 here.
