Concerns about Manual Registry Deletion
« on: November 12, 2023, 09:04:46 AM »
This has been popping up multiple times for each Smart Scan, so I searched in the registry and found the offending registry keys. But since it emphasizes getting premium to delete it, is it safe to manually do it if you can find it?

Personally, if these broken Registries were causing you actual problems you should be seeing windows errors.

Just looking at the various headings in the list, I don't see any there that I would consider serious.  Also, given the titles I don't see any that resolving them would see any great improvement.

Personally I don't run any on-demand scans (outside of questions in the forums) as Avast is an on-access program, which should be scanning active files.  Dormant files don't present an immediate risk, when they become active Avast would scan them.

With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.

I also use the free version and to me, the Smart Scan function is simply a tool to sell other products.
I never run it.
