Many are wondering what is going on at Avast. Total lack of information here regarding today's public release of Program Version Update 24.2.

Also the method by which it was presented to users, with 24.1 showing red X and "not protected" thereby pressing users to update, is bad practice. The only exception being an emergency update, but the changelog says was not, just bug fixes.

And even in the case of Emergency updates it will actually, I believe, update automatically and then just prompt you to restart.

I disable all these emergency updates in the Task Scheduler.
And from time to time I go home and be active. I don't like that avast does this behind the scenes without me knowing.

But version 24.2 has already been released, many Avast spread around the world have already been updated.
All that remains is for the notification to arrive on the forum.

I have encountered problem with this new version
Full chronology: before this thing happen, i already have avast antivirus installed on my pc, i use avast antivirus very long time, and after it's automatically update it's self (avast update success), and after that i use for working, but my pc/laptop suddenly blank for a moment, and normal again, and for a moment later my pc/laptop restarting and enter the repairing mode mode, i try every single step on recovery mode, but it's still not working. So i decided to reinstall the windows, and because of that i go to repairing center, and the technician say my windows is corrupted. so they reinstall the windows, after installing the windows all completely fine and normal, but after i installing avast again, the problem back again, first with blank for a moment, restarting, and enter the repairing mode.

Which avast version? Free, Premium,....

Are you sure of the source of the installation file?

I suggest you to download the "offline" version of your program (rather than the "ONLINE" version) using the link at the beginning of this topic.

On the other hand, are you sure that the technician has reinstalled Windows on a safe partition?

It may be worth running the avastclear tool before reinstalling ... there may still be traces of the old installation on your hard drive.

They said they reinstalled Windows so I would imagine that reinstallation cleared out any previous Avast traces.

It's your computer so it's your, choice but recommending this to others is foolish and irresponsible.

Dear colleague, I didn't make a recommendation to him, I just said that I will do it. If you look at what I said in my words, I didn't recommend you do this, I just explained my experience.

I'm not your colleague.
When you suggest, or share something you are willingly or unwillingly recommending an action and in this case it's a very bad one.

Is there no democracy in the forum? Or has it become a DICTATORSHIP?
I just explained to the boy what I did on my machine. I didn't recommend anything for him to do on his machine.
What I'm going to do now is when I see his comments I will IGNORE you. It's soon resolved.
Thanks.
