No Duck Duck Go search option
« on: February 15, 2024, 06:17:38 PM »
After update to build 121.0.23861.160 I no longer have Duck Duck Go as my default search and it's not available to select.
Only Google Bing and Start Page.
How can I get my search engine back??

Hi jrpar1,

Don't like Startpage and want to have Duck Duck Go back as my search engine. How can I do this?

First let me say that I don't use ASB and what I post below has been as a result of a few searches:

***  Check out this link - https://support.avast.com/en-gb/article/17#idt_006
In that there are a couple of things that might help.
1.  Importing your default browser settings  -  See the Set your default browser section.
Then see - Set your default browser - This mentions.
Avast Secure Browser allows you to import bookmarks, browsing history, search engines, saved passwords, and auto-fill form data from several popular web browsers, or from an HTML file.  The highlighting BOLD is mine

For more information about importing browser data to Avast Secure Browser, refer to the following article:
https://support.avast.com/en-gb/article/83/#pc

So it would appear by importing your previous browser data if DudkDuckGo was one of the search engines in the imported data that search engine would be in the dropdown list.

Thanks but that did not work for me.
Startpage is terrible so guess I will have to ditch Avast Browser for a browser that will allow me the Duck Duck Go option.

You might want to consider using more than one browser. I use different browsers for different purposes. I've yet to find one browser that meets all my needs. I simply pick the browser that best works for what I'm currently working on.
You computer, your choice. :)
