It was difficult to find out about this issue, and now Avast?
1- Are you still collecting data?
2- What was done to no longer be collected?
3- How are we going to trust our data now?
4- Avast team inform all customers what was done to change since it was purchased by GEN DIGITAL.

Relates to the old Jumpshot saga.
Read the last few paragraphs, that includes: "An Avast spokesperson told BleepingComputer that the company has already reached a settlement with the FTC to resolve the investigation regarding the data shared with the Jumpshot subsidiary that was shut down in January 2020."

This is four year old information. The only thing new is the settlement with the FTC.
It's the FTC that's been more lax than Avast to respond to the actual issue.
Granted, this never should have happened. It also shouldn't take 4 years for our Government to get it's act together.
The public suffered the loss of data and Uncle Sam is cashing in on it.  :-\

Even if it was 4 years or 10 years, the fine can not be high enough.
You always protect Avast, Bob but i think they do not pay you, so why defend ? They are big boys that dont care about you anyways.
Space for rent.

Get your facts straight. I don't "always" defend Avast. I certainly didn't on this issue.
The point was simple. It never should have happened and it certainly shouldn't take the FTC 4 years to mitigate.
Basically, the FTC is gaining 16.5M but it's the customers whose data was shared not the FTC's.
Both AVAST and the FTC are wrong.

No. I did not contact Beeping Computer. Your understanding is wrong on that.
I do not work for, nor am I affiliated in any way with Avast. I am just a user and forum member like yourself.

Sorry friend... lol now I understand what you wanted to say, I was just passing on information.  :D
Now agree with what we are questioning, AVAST didn't say anything, everyone was silent. no one talks about this subject. lack of clarity
