As you probably know most of us have already got it and the associated hassle that came with it, sans HOTFIX.

These Program updates notification should come first, a bit like the horse comes before the cart and not the other way round - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=326306.0.

Lots (understatement) of annoyed users.

Firewall is installed in new installation of the Free versions.

To be clear, the firewall won't be installed on future updates if I don't have it installed, correct?

Also, if I ever need to do a clean install in the future (or even just install it on a new computer), will there still be the option to Customize the installation and uncheck the Firewall if I don't want it?

I believe that sentence should be titled as "What was fixed" like betas...

Hi everyone,

there is a new beta version ready - 24.2.6101 (build 24.2.8860).

What was fixed
Other products not detected as installed in User Interface.
FW is installed during program update even on Free versions.
Stability changes, mostly crashes fixed
Fixed issue when desktop icons could disappear in some cases

Is it normal that I can no longer activate samba protection on my W7SP1?

If I tick the box, it is automatically unticked when I re-open the settings.

I had authorised only certain addresses on my local network and I could see the connection attempts from these addresses with the report from the remote access agent ... I've been unable to do this since 3 March.

Well that's pretty confusing then. Could really use some clarification even more now.

Easy to not have Avast's Firewall.  Select "Customise" and select what you want Avast to install on your computer.  Untick the Firewall box.  See attached picture below.  Install as usual.

I don't want Avast's firewall.

If you read the complete text in the post, you will have seen that this is for 'new installation of the Free versions.'
So your updateing Avast Antivirus Free automatically or manually you shouldn't get the firewall installed.

There seems to be a bug in 'Blocked and Allowed Apps". After four days of agonizing why my emails weren't coming through in my third party email app, I went into settings and allowed it. The only option to choose for this allowance was 'Ransomware Shield'. Avast still won't allow my mail to populate unless I completely shut off all shields. Is this change I made something that requires a pc restart or am I missing something?

There really isn't much to work with here.

it seems that maintaining samba protection is working again

PROBLEM SOLVED - YOU DO HAVE TO RESTART AFTER MAKING CHANGES.
