SFC Errors Due to Avast Removal
« on: March 20, 2024, 10:03:30 PM »
Hello I have a Windows 10 Lenovo Think PAD p50 workstation and I am getting an error where SFC is unable to repair system components . I am quite certain the reason when running SFC it is related to components related to avast uninstall. I tried to uninstall it and used the avast removal tool, and it seems like it left remnants.  I also ran DISM which found nothing wrong with system components. Could anyone assist me with this issue? I also own another laptop of the same model and it also has issues likely related to avast. See log below with corruptions

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.4170]
(c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

I have noticed similar things on mine. Not sure what the issue is, which makes it more difficult in case I have other issues that the SFC scan is trying to fix.

I am also encountering this issue. It seems like remnants of Avast are causing corruptions in system components, particularly manifest files related to Avast's Visual C++ redistributable packages. SFC (System File Checker) is unable to repair these components, even after attempting to remove Avast using its removal tool. If you want to download capcut then visit this website https://capcutproapk.org/. DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) also didn't find any issues with the system components. It appears that the corruptions are preventing the affected manifest files from being accessed or repaired properly, leading to errors during the scanning process. This could potentially impact the stability and performance of the system.

Has anyone found a successful solution to this problem?

Has anyone found a successful solution to this problem?

Solution is obvious:
restore the system to before-Avast! state
never install Avast!
