Avast Newbie Question - Scheduled Scanning
« on: March 13, 2004, 01:52:46 PM »
I have just downloaded Avast! for Home Users, seemingly successfully.  I was previously using AVG Free Edition and was very happy with it, however I read a great recommendation for Avast! so uninstalled AVG and downloaded Avast!.
My question is: Can I schedule daily scans of my system as I did with AVG or must I manually scan every day?  I can't see anywhere to schedule scans.

In the menu you can select "scan at boot" This will scan your system everytime you start the computer. If you have Avast set to "on access scan" there is no need for a daily scan in my opinion. But you can ofcourse always run a scan manually.

Well Home Edition doesn't support scheduling except for boot-time scan. You can play with Windows Task Scheduler and ashQuick.exe but its much harder than by simply using integrated Scheduler in avast! Pro version (Enhanced GUI).
