Avast crash
« on: April 26, 2024, 07:44:33 AM »
I have the red X on the icon and says . I am not protected. I did a search on the forum and tried to do the suggestions. They do not work for me. The pop up is a black background saying Sorry we've crashed, Try restarting your Antivirus. When I click on that, it says restarting failed. I also get User Control pop up window asking if I want to allow Avast to make changes. All the pop up windows cause my screen to freeze. I have to use ctrl + r  several times to unfreeze my screen.

Have you tried repairing Avast or uninstalling and reinstalling it?
Thank you and good day!

I cannot do a repair. I can only do an uninstall or change. I have not tried to do an uninstall and reinstall yet because I want to know if there is something else I can try first.

I ended up uninstalling using the utility tool and reinstalling. Now, Windows Security is telling me action is needed. When I open it up, it does not show me which action is needed. I am using Windows 10. Also, on my laptop, I have two icons each for Avast, Malwarebytes, and Firefox.

Do you also have active real time protection for Malwarebytes or do you just use it for scans and that's it?
Remember that two antiviruses with real time protections active will almost certainly conflict or create problems.
Only one AV with active real-time protection needs to be installed on a PC.
Thank you and good day!

I only use Malwarebytes for scans. Avast is the only AV I use.
