Annoying PopUp
« on: April 30, 2024, 08:47:55 PM »
So how do I stop this new popup from bothering me each time the system starts?
The system tray icon already lets me know Avast is up and running.

I don't/haven't see it so far, as I rarely do a system restart.

However I don't know your Notifications settings.

Try setting the Notifications to Limited Mode.

That said your screenshot shows Smart Mode but doesn't appear to have an option to change as my screenshot does for Pop-up Notification Treatment.

I have just checked the new topic for Avast 24.4 release version and there is something there now about this issue you are reporting(I think).
Assuming you have the latest Avast 24.4 version ?

I thought with the regular release of 24.4, the beta version would have ended.

Your forum signature indicates Avast Free version 23.5.6066 :)

Not any more. :)
Beta never ends unless you do a clean install of the regular version.

Correct beta never ends, but you have to update it to receive the new build and that is normally notified in the forums.  So the latest regular Avast program update should supersede the previous beta until the next one comes along and you update to that.  That new beta version would presumably be 24.6.xxxx.

It could be 24.5.xxxx if a new beta gets released this month. :)

Well the betas are a pre-emption of the next regular version so that really should reflect that version number 24.6.xxxx.

We will have to see when there is a notification of a 'new beta release' in the forums.

That doesn't explain the (remaining) signature in 23.5.6066 which dates from 25 May 2023
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=323863.0

it should be at 24.4.6112 if you had updated with the latest beta of 25 April 2024
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=327310.0

I think what DavidR meant was that your signature was obsolete (2023), no more no less.

The beta<->regular comparison/evolution isn't the main point....you're taking the piss for nothing :D

Otherwise it follows the following pattern:
Beta 24.4.6112
Regu 24.4.6112
Beta 24.5.6113 (we are in May) yesterday it would have been 24.4.6113
Beta 24.5.6114
........
Beta 24.5.6116 (ex for the last beta before a regular one)
Regu 24.5.6116
........

Chris,
If you had looked at my reply, it said not any more. Look at my signature and you'll see it's been updated.
Remember that the signature information isn't live and needs manual updates. :)

So how do I stop this new popup from bothering me each time the system starts?
The system tray icon already lets me know Avast is up and running.
Hello Bob, it's a new feature that should "reassure" the users that the AV is up and running. It came as an idea based on the fact that the users were not sure if they are protected. It's enabled just for Beta builds now. As it is using the Windows Notifications you'll have to manage it in the "System Settings > Notifications & Actions" of your Windows.
Quality is also a feature.

That would be using a sledge hammer to crack a nut, kill all to get rid of one, crazy.  It's more likely to annoy than reassure.
Surely the option not to see this would/should be covered by the existing Avast PopUp Notifications Treatment option 'Limited Mode' ?
Why the need to use the Windows Notifications function at all.

Frequent long term users of Avast shouldn't need this hand holding/reassurance, we know it is covered by the ever present tray icon.
