So how do I stop this new popup from bothering me each time the system starts?
The system tray icon already lets me know Avast is up and running.
Hello Bob, it's a new feature that should "reassure" the users that the AV is up and running. It came as an idea based on the fact that the users were not sure if they are protected. It's enabled just for Beta builds now. As it is using the Windows Notifications you'll have to manage it in the "System Settings > Notifications & Actions" of your Windows.
I'm not looking to turn off all notification from Avast.
I do want to turn off an annoyance that serves no purpose. Thanks

Neither of which bring added value to the user, just hassle.

Surely "X" in the tray icon is visible warning enough that protection is compromised.
I do not want more agressive pop-ups for that purpose, unless there is a simple way as user to switch them OFF!

Please don't put any other useless popups... the Avast icon is enough to reassure users.
Thank you and good day!

Maybe this is a Windows 10 thing (as others posting about it have Windows 11), but I get the notification after waking my computer from sleep, not after a restart.

The point Nunzio77 is trying to make by referring the discussion is that this function already seems to be included in regular builds and not just in beta builds (as mentioned by lukas.hasik above).
I'm sure it's not to steal your spotlight ;) ;) ;)

Not that this takes away from your complaint here, but I don't think Avast uses the Windows notifications for anything else. They usually use their own native notifications for things like detections, scan results, etc. Unless Avast is going to be changing that and all notifications from them will come through the Windows notifications area, which would be unfortunate.

Windows notification doesn't have on or off for certain notifications of an App and Avast is simply an App.
The option is either on or off for all notifications for an App..

Correct, but Windows notifications only deals with the notifications that come from them in the Windows notifications area. They don't control other Avast notifications. For example, if you turn off the Windows notifications from the Windows settings for Avast, and your WebShield blocks a risky website, you will still get that notification. If you have a scan that completes, you'll get that notification about the results. If you leave the Avast notifications on "Smart mode", you'll still get the pop ups trying to upsell you to Premium if you're not already a Premium member. The reason those notifications, I believe, won't be affected is because they aren't done through Windows notifications, but through Avast's own notifications from their UI.

So then the question becomes: Which Avast notifications are done through their own UI versus through the Windows notifications module. If there are other things Avast notifies you of through Windows notifications, then turning off notifications in the Windows settings would obviously cause an issue. However, in my experience, before this update I never saw any Avast notifications done through the Windows notifications. This is the first one. But is that changing with this update? Will notifications now be integrated through Windows notifications system? Is it different per OS? I know you're on Windows 11. Were all Avast related notifications previously done through a MS Windows pop up, or were they done through Avast UI pop ups on Windows 11? I'm on Windows 10 and again, my experience has been the latter except for this new one so far.

If an Avast employee wants to answer these questions, that would be great. Because i'm mostly speculating with educated guesses here.

The problem is disabling notifications in the Windows Notification settings, is that could have other ramifications in other Windows Notifications
Not so much in Avast as this change only effects this new function/popup, the remainder should be handled by Avast Notifications.

That was never made clear by Lukas. He said nothing about only turning off this one popup.
