So how do I stop this new popup from bothering me each time the system starts?
The system tray icon already lets me know Avast is up and running.
Hello Bob, it's a new feature that should "reassure" the users that the AV is up and running. It came as an idea based on the fact that the users were not sure if they are protected. It's enabled just for Beta builds now. As it is using the Windows Notifications you'll have to manage it in the "System Settings > Notifications & Actions" of your Windows.

The problem is disabling notifications in the Windows Notification settings, is that could have other ramifications in other Windows Notifications
Not so much in Avast as this change only effects this new function/popup, the remainder should be handled by Avast Notifications.
That was never made clear by Lukas. He said nothing about only turning off this one popup.

I was reading between the lines, my guess would have been if it impacted all Avast popups I'm sure he would have mentioned that or possibly not suggested it.

Especially if it effectively effected all Avast Popups including alerts.  The point of this notice from my understanding/guesswork, using the Windows Notifications allows the posting of this Notice, before the Avast Notifications (UI) come into play.

Since you've been affected by the beta version, why not let us know what's really going on for you?
For example, if you disable windows notifications as suggested by Lukas, does the orange avast icon in the taskbar disappear so that we don't see the red cross if we're no longer protected?

@Chris,
I'm interested in notification popups not the Avast Taskbar icon.
I've left the notification on but have turned the other two settings off

No it won't. If you only disable it for Avast specifically, it won't disable Windows Notifications for other items.

I hadn't turned notifications of, but I wasn't seeing the Pop-up that some have mentioned.  But what I have noticed is that the Windows Notification Icon is White, e.g. there is a notification pending - That it the 'Your protection is up and running' not that in your face popup that some have reported.

So I have disabled the Avast Notifications in the Win10 System Notification settings for Avast. We will have to see if it impacts any other Avast Notifications, be they related to this or other Avast Notifications.

I addressed this already. All Avast notifications that go through their own native UI notifications should stay the same, and you never answered what other Avast-related notifications you see pop up through Windows Notifications area.

The notification area is for news, the tray area is for applications' status. Having a notification notify about status might be okay in cellphones, which have a different UX and runtime model, but is redundant on PC.

The concern about shutting down all notification area items is valid, especially for an AV. The built-in notifications are on by default, and are assumed to be on, and there's no guarantee Avast won't utilize them for more important news at some point in the future.

This notification should disappear when one clicks "dismiss" for the first time, with a setting to opt-in later on.

Hello, I made an account specifically because of this issue.
I am frustrated and appalled by Avast's team that thought a forced popup on every boot was acceptable.
I have been an Avast user for almost 10 years now. It is extremely annoying to get a notification with no option to disable it. It seems the only option is to disable all popups from Avast from Windows, which is convoluted and ruins the purpose of anti-virus software. I don't see why this can't be turned off like the awful email signature could be.

I have cancelled my subscription and I will be removing it from my computer, as well as the computers in our department.
If anyone has any recommended alternatives, please let me know. Thank you.
