Malware in Avast?
« on: July 26, 2024, 09:27:50 AM »
Hello. This morning, central Europe, i've turned on PC and some time later Avast tried to run autoupdate or scan for auto updates as always does, and for the first time i got a pop-up from the app about threat getting blocked from infection. I assume that this is false-positive, because it came straight from Avast servers, but should i be concerned?

When you say Auto update, are you talking about updating the definitions or the program version?

Most won't visit a 3rd party link, not knowing what the content might be.

It is preferable to attach your images to your post.

Attaching Images to your post - When you Click the Reply button it opens a text window for you to post your comment (reply or post).
Click the Preview button, that shows what you have input and expands it to include 'Attachments and other options'. Click that it further expands, here you can attach images, etc. at the bottom of your post.
See my attached image, click to expand.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free  24.8.6127 (build 24.8.9372.862) UI 1.0.814/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I don't know what i'm doing wrong, or if something is broken on my side, but i already tried that and it doesn't show any attachments i put, this is why i used imgur url instead

I think it's virus definitions, because the app wasn't updating. From time to time Avast is launching its processes in task manager, avast overseer, avast install setup and something else. This time, when this happened at morning, i got a pop-up from Avast that a threat was neutralized, because it detected that the website that AV was trying to connect, was infected with URL:blacklist, and that site url seemed like one of avast servers
