I am running Avast! 4.7 and Thunderbird 2.0.0.9 on a Windows XP computer. When I try to send emails I get the error message:
"Sending of message failed.
An error occurred sending mail: Unable to connect to SMTP server smtp.university.edu via STARTTLS since it doesn't offer STARTTLS In EHLO response. Please verify that your Mail/News account settings are correct and try again." BTW I am using TLS on Port 25.
On an older version of Avast, I was able to set it to ignore scanning traffic from the smtp server and it worked fine but now that Avast has been upgraded to version 4.7, I can no longer access that feature. Any suggestions?
