Error Message 42040 - VBS File Destroyed
« on: March 29, 2004, 12:12:14 PM »
I keep getting error message on bootup.....program loads with red x in icon in tray and when I ask program to activate, I get this notification that I have Error Message 42040 - VBS File Destroyed.

What is causing this, and how do I get this fixed....

Invoke manually program update. Chances are it will fix the problem.

BTW it is VPS file, not VBS file... :)

Yea, and that was probably where my mind was going at the time... :o

Let's take this issue a little further...I did the program update as you suggested and it advises me both the program and VPS are up to date.  What I have been doing when this occurs is to go to my saved installation file, initiating it...it gives two options....CHANGE or REMOVE...I select CHANGE then reboot..and all is well till the next occurrence of the problem.  I am not sure just when AVAST becomes deactivated like it does, but it seems to happen randomly....any thoughts?

avast does not become deactivated!? What do you mean?
The resident providers could be disabled if you wish and ask so... but there is not an 'automatic' deactivation.
The VPS file is not destroyed automatically and this does not take part in a deactivation proccess as well...

Can you explain a little more?  ;)
